Toronto – Fight Network, the world's fastest growing 24/7 television channel dedicated to complete coverage of combat sports, has signed an agreement to launch in Belgium on Telenet in October 2013, making it the fifth country in which the channel has been launched this year, adding to Fight Network's significant subscriber base in Canada.
Fight Network airs programs focused on the combat sports genre, including mixed martial arts, boxing, kickboxing, professional wrestling, traditional martial arts, fight news, as well as fight-themed drama series, documentaries and feature films.
"We are excited about being welcomed into the Telenet family," said Leonard Asper, CEO of Fight Network's parent company Anthem Media Group. "This new relationship with a company that is part of the Liberty Global group of cable systems is a strong statement attesting to the quality of the channel."
"Fight Network is quickly becoming the leading international brand in combat sports television, and we are building a global community of people who love combat sports," said Anthony Cicione, General Manager of Fight Network. "With our launch in Belgium, and our previous launches in other countries in Europe and Africa, we are moving closer to fulfilling our goal of becoming the world's ultimate destination for fight-related programming."
Jeroen Bronselaer, Director Content Products & Strategy at Telenet adds: "With Fight Network, we add a strong brand to our Sports & Adult pack. We are pleased to broaden our thematic offer, and give sports fans access to the exiting world of combat sports."
